The grand military alliance that spans the Atlantic is demonstrating unprecedented strength and vigor as it celebrates 75 years since its historic inception. This monumental milestone marks the pinnacle of unity and power, showcasing NATO’s enduring commitment to peace and security in an ever-evolving world, especially in Europe, where the largest ground invasion post-World War II is transpiring.

The invasion of Ukraine fostered strong harmony among NATO members and served as a wake-up call to commit to spending 2% of GDP on defense. This unity also led to the inclusion of new states such as Finland and Sweden, with pending applications from Ukraine, and aspirations from others like Georgia, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The acceleration of NATO’s recent efforts will soon be tested. With the upcoming presidential election in the United States, the future of the alliance also hangs in the balance. For now, it is safe to say there is a sound and formidable security corridor around Russia, reminiscent of the Iron Curtain. Ironically, it is the former Soviet states that are most enthusiastic to join the alliance—how times have changed.
